Arsenal news LIVE: Gunners ENQUIRE about N’Golo Kante, Newcastle join Rice battle, Zaha FREE transfer
Arsenal interested in Baku
Arsenal are eyeing a move for Wolfsburg star Ridle Baku, according to reports.
The Gunners are keen to sign a more adventurous right-back option this summer.
Boss Mikel Arteta has successfully deployed centre-half Ben White in the position for most of this campaign.
But Arsenal are keen to recruit a more attacking option ahead of next season.
According to Sky Germany, Baku has impressed Gunners scouts this term.
They add that Baku is interested in departing Wolfsburg this summer and that a move to the Premier League would be an attractive proposition.
Morning, Arsenal fans
N’Golo Kante, Wilfried Zaha and Declan Rice top the transfer talk – with a Wolfsburg star also in the mix.
As for on the pitch, Bukayo Saka revealed just how hungry the Prem leaders are to win at West Ham on Sunday after ‘only’ drawing 2-2 at Liverpool last weekend.
The Gunners have reportedly enquired about Chelsea’s all-energy midfielder Kante, 32.
The Frenchman is said to be in talks over a new contract at Stamford Bridge.
But whatever happens, a member of Kante’s entourage told Le Parisien: “N’Golo would like to continue his career in London, where he has his habits.”
Arsenal could also finally try to land Crystal Palace winger Zaha on a summer free transfer.
But the latest speculation over West Ham skipper Rice is more frustrating.
It’s suggested Newcastle are ready to join a £100million battle for the England midfielder.
The Gunners remain favourites, however, with Chelsea and Manchester United also likely to be monitoring the situation.
A new name on the list is Wolfsburg’s versatile ace Ridle Baku.
Sky Sports DE claim the Gunners are keen on the £13million-rated right-back or central midfielder, who in turn is said to be interested in such a move.
Finally, current Emirates hero Saka wants Sunday’s dropped points to be the motivating force in the next Prem match.
He said: “The boys were really disappointed… We can’t change that so we have to switch the focus to Sunday against West Ham.
“It’s really important – we all know that.”
Rodri warns Gunners
Rodri has warned Manchester City’s rivals that his team have the right mentality to win the Treble.
Pep Guardiola’s hopes of landing the big three — Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup — have been boosted significantly over the last few days.
First, Prem leaders Arsenal dropped two vital points at Anfield on Sunday, meaning defending their domestic crown is now back in City’s own hands.
Then on Tuesday evening, Rodri’s stunning opener set the ball rolling on a thrilling 3-0 win over Bayern Munich — which saw them plant one foot in the Champions League semi-finals.
City’s next challenge comes against Premier League relegation strugglers Leicester on Saturday — and the Spanish midfielder claims their full focus must be on the Foxes.
Rodri said: “We don’t value any competition over another. We are alive in all three — and will fight until the end for all of them.
“Our aim is to go game by game, we don’t think beyond that. We are now back to the Premier League and an intense battle for the title — but our mentality is to win everything.
“Of course, it would be very special to win our first Champions League.
“We are on the right path and, if we continue like this, we will have chances at the end of the season.”
