Chelsea FC XI vs Real Madrid: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Champions League
the health will tonight have almost a full group of players available to face Real Madrid in the Champions League, raising hopes of a potential upset.
A 24-man group has flown to Spain for the quarter-final first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Wednesday night, including recent absentees N’Golo Kante – The Best Of N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Thiago Silva.
Kante is expected to be fit to start and was only left out of the 1-0 defeat to Wolves to manage his load ahead of a season-defining contest.
He has, however, played just 69 minutes since returning to training following a seven-month lay-off due to a hamstring problem and may not be able to compete for the full match.
Mount and Silva are also available but their level of his fitness remains unclear. Mount has a niggling pelvic injury that is causing him discomfort and pain, while Silva returns after six weeks out through a knee injury and after just two training sessions.
Cesar Azpilicueta also travelled but is a doubt having been out with a knee injury and concussion since mid-February. Third-choice goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli is back after a minor injury.
Armando Broja hasn’t travelled after a serious knee injury and continues to step up his recovery to be available next season.
Caretaker manager Frank Lampard could draft Chilwell in to play at left-back ahead of Marc Cucurella in a change from his first match in charge.
Chelsea predicted XI (4-3-3): Kepa; James, Fofana, Koulibaly, Chilwell; Kante, Enzo, Kovacic; Joao Felix, Havertz, Sterling
