Harry Kane ‘can absolutely win a trophy’ at Tottenham – Daniel Levy

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy believes Harry Kane “can absolutely win a trophy” at the club.

Kane, 29, has spent his entire professional career at Tottenham but has yet to secure team honours with the north London side, despite winning a host of individual accolades including three Premier League Golden Boots.

Much has been made about Kane’s lack of trophies and with his contract at Spurs expiring in the summer of 2024, his future is again a topic of discussion.

Levy was speaking at the debating society of Cambridge Universityhis alma mater, when he was asked about Kane’s prospect of lifting silverware with his boyhood club.

“He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs,” Levy replied.

“But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur; he’s making history.

“I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.”

Levy also spoke about how Tottenham have fared in general during recent seasons. The 61-year-old has been chairman of Spurs since 2001 and in that time, the club have won one Carabao Cup, in 2008, and finished as runners-up in the Champions League in 2019.

“If you go back in history,” Levy added, “Tottenham was a club that has a lot of history because it has won things.

“In recent times, it’s not been where it needs to be. We’re on a journey and we need to get better success on the pitch.

“But we have been in the Champions League a number of times and we almost got there, winning the ultimate, which would have been winning the Champions League.”

This season, Spurs are out of the cup competitions and are fighting with Manchester United and Newcastle United for a top-four finish in the Premier League. They travel to Newcastle on Sunday before hosting Manchester United next Thursday.
