Jurgen Klopp issues three-word reply when asked if he wants Arsenal to win Premier League title

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said he wants “the best team” to win this season’s Premier League title after watching his side draw with league-leaders Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners stormed into an early 2-0 lead at Anfield thanks to goals from Brazilian duo Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus. However, the Reds fought back, with Mohamed Salah halving the deficit on the stroke of half-time.

Salah then fired a penalty wide in the second half before Roberto Firmino netted the equaliser late on as the spoils were shared on Merseyside. After the match, host of AFTV YouTube channel Cecil Jee Thomas asked Klopp if he would like to see the north Londoners win the league title this term, to which the German replied by saying: “the best team.”

During Klopp’s time at Anfield, Liverpool have been in a number of title battles with Manchester City, who currently sit six points behind Arsenal in first, although City have played one league match less than Mikel Arteta’s men. Still, City boss Pep Guardiola surprisingly claimed that he didn’t have time to watch the Gunners’ match against the Reds yesterday.

“I hear it but I didn’t see it”, Guardiola said when asked about an incident at half-time of the match involving linesman Constantine Hatzidakis and Liverpool defender Andy Robertson. “I was watching Bayern Munich and golf.

“I saw highlights afterwards, but didn’t discuss it and see it. They told me something happened, but I didn’t see the image so I cannot comment.

“But it’s weird, when people said to me it happened, I said, ‘Wow, it’s happened?'”
