Liverpool ‘submit £84m bid for Jude Bellingham’ as Jurgen Klopp looks to sign his No 1 target
Liverpool have launched a £84 million bid for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, according to a new report.
Jurgen Klopp’s side named Bellingham as their top target in December, according to Sky Germanywith a summer move on the cards.
It has been claimed that Klopp has personally pushed for the move to happen, with the 19-year-old Birmingham academy graduate already established as a key player in a top five European league, and as a regular England international.
The German stated last month that Liverpool would spend in the transfer market this summer, although refused to comment on how much the club would have available to spend on new players.
The Reds have spent over £100 million combined this season on the signings of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpowith both players already making important impacts at Anfield – even if not on a fully consistent basis just yet.
A new report claims that the Reds have already submitted a bid worth a large chunk of that amount to Dortmund for Bellingham.
Liverpool ‘launch bid for Bellingham’
According to Caught Offsidevia sources, Liverpool have already looked to steal a march on their transfer rivals – including Real Madrid – by launching an early bid for Bellingham ahead of the summer window.
It is claimed that the offer is worth €95 million (£84 million), but it is unclear whether this would be a fee in one instalment or include add-ons.
Furthermore, the report adds there is an understanding that Dortmund have yet to reply to Liverpool’s offer, with the German giants ‘eager to receive additional proposals from other interested clubs’.
If the bid is accepted, it would smash Liverpool’s existing transfer record of £75 million, which they paid to sign Virgil van Dyke from Southampton in 2018.
The Reds will hope that, if Bellingham joins, he would go on to have a similar, if not greater, impact on the side than the Dutchman, who has won seven trophies during his stay at Anfield.
