Manchester United linked star announces he wants to leave this summer

Manchester United target Orkun Kokcu on his future

Winning the Eredivisie has not convinced Orkun Kokcu that his future lies at the club. Speaking on Sunday night via NOShe expressed his desire to leave.

Kokcu even admitted he was keen to leave last summer, and said it would be ‘very nice’ if he is able to leave this summer.

He said: “I can’t say anything for sure, I thought I would be gone last season. Then you will only be disappointed if you can’t leave. If I can take a step after this season, that would be very nice.”

He added that he is relaxed about his future, also making clear that playing in the Champions League with Feyenoord won’t tempt him to stick around if he has an offer from another club in the competition.

“I just haven’t experienced the Champions League, but who knows, maybe somewhere else. I am also very satisfied with my place at Feyenoord, for me it is not the case that I am going into the summer with panic in my head.”

This season the 22-year-old Turkish midfielder has scored 12 goals from midfield and also provided four assists. He has displayed leadership qualities too as the Feyenoord captain.

Manchester United will be assessing targets right now and narrowing down a shortlist.

In Kokcu’s favour, is his desire for a new experience. This wasn’t something Frenkie de Jong was keen on last summer.

United simply need to work out whether Kokcu possesses the right combination of quality and value to become a priority over other names.
