- Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham are all interested in Ward-Prowse
James Ward-Prowse has reportedly been told that he can leave Southampton this summer if the club are relegated from the Premier League.
The Southampton captain has spent his entire career to date at St Mary’s, but there is interest in him from Newcastle, while Tottenham and West Ham have also been linked with him, according to talkSPORT.
Southampton are bottom of the Premier League and are four points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining.
Ruben Selles’ side take on league leaders Arsenal away next and face a major test if they are to preserve their top flight status.
If they are relegated then Ward-Prowse, who has earned a reputation as a free-kick specialist, certainly wouldn’t be short of potential suitors.
The 28-year-old has been capped by England on 11 occasions and a move could help his chances of featuring more prominently for Gareth Southgate’s side.
In total, Ward-Prowse has made 402 appearances for Southampton, while he has scored 53 goals and provided 51 assists.
If Southampton are relegated then they could end up losing further members of their squad.
Following the aforementioned game against Arsenal, Southampton will conclude their season with fixtures against Bournemouth, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool.
