After a long wait in free agency, Jameis Winston found his new team April 28 when he signed with the New Orleans Saints and entered the competition to serve as veteran starter Drew Brees’ backup for the 2020 NFL season. As the Saints’ potential backup, Winston is preparing accordingly — and apparently getting creative while doing so — more than three months away from the fall.
In a clip of a workout video reposted Saturday afternoon by Bleacher Report’s B/R Gridiron account on Twitter, Winston takes to a turf football field. Wearing a black shirt and shorts with garnet and gold mid-calf socks, Winston is seen sporting a gold Saints helmet
With gloves on both hands, Winston grips what appears to be a thin pipe or training bat of some sort. Holding it between his legs, as if to simulate being under center, he takes a three-step drop back and — rather than throwing a ball — turns left and swings the stick.
