What the mystery Chelsea player is now telling his teammates after being called out by Todd Boehly
Reports have claimed that Todd Boehly calling out one Chelsea player in the dressing room have not gone down well with the individual in question.
According to The Guardian, the unnamed footballer is said to have now been telling his teammates that he has never experienced anything like this in the sport.
News broke yesterday that one player, who was signed by the current ownership for a large fee, was singled out when the American entered the dressing room after defeat to Brighton.
Boehly doing this is somewhat of a shock, although is perhaps not surprising that frustrations boiled over when looking at where Chelsea are right now.
The Blues sit in the bottom half of the table, out of both domestic cup competitions at the first hurdle, and hanging on to any hopes at success in Europe by a thread.
Called-out player left fuming
The owner pulled the trigger on Graham Potter’s time at the club after months of offering his backing, although it did reach a point where it was beyond defendable.
While a wake-up call was certainly needed for the players, there is a worry that Boehly’s involvement will end up having the opposite effect.
A new manager is set to join the club any week now, and it will be interesting how much of a clean slate the selected candidate offers the entire squad.
Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are currently the reported favourites for the role, with both having just left high-profile roles at Bayern Munich and Spain respectively.
While both will offer very different managerial styles, there are positives to both options, although they will both be cautious of how much impact the owner wants to have on things.
